What is SAASHY’S …
SAASHY’S is an experience like a work of art… that speaks a unique message of beauty to every woman. In every woman there are masculine and feminine emotions, far different from the stereotypes of the overly submissive plain woman to the strong overly image conscious woman. At SAASHY’S a woman can embrace BEAUTY… FASHION… ART… HEALTH… in an elegant nurturing environment.
Who is Saashy …
What her mother taught her…
My mother had a great influence on my life, especially because she managed to be both supportive and demanding. She had a great sense of style and took great care about her appearance before she was married... the arrival of her children postponed her style... she was as beautiful as a woman should be.. she was open and sociable, as we would like all people to be. She has an assiduous interest in others, which has taught me to serve others.
Her childhood
I was a very responsible girl, a bit naïve, a dreamer, strong willed, capable of being over powering, as my mother. My father, on the other hand, was silent, yet occassionally spoke his peace. Our family was the little world where we lived, as we moved from place to place, eleven to be exact in my seventeen years at home. The protected spiritual atmosphere of those days is something that is always with me… even when I am in Paris... New York... or San Francisco.
The yen and yang sides of beauty
My philosophy is not unisex but it does insist upon more gentler attitudes for men, and more stability for women. I know in every aspect of life there exist both yen … feminine and yang… masculine emotions, and a balance between these compatible forces will create a harmonious equilibrium, far from the extreme stereotypes of the macho athletic man and the sexy glamorized woman.
The art of beauty
Beauty is eminent as truth prevails in the soul of a person. Beauty, for those who create it, is an individual art form. In my opinion a very personal standard, without which it is difficult to express our individuality and create our own standard for beauty in physical appearance which is reflected in our soul. A well dressed physically beautiful woman,is not a porcelian manniquin, beauty is something which all people not only deserve, but emit from within… with grace… to live better.
Early inspirations
In the beginning of my journey to discover beauty I was the epitome of an understated glamorized woman focused on appearance. I would not leave home unless every hair was in place… make up perfect… and to die for trappings. In those days I was a fanatic because I had not found myself.
The Flower Children
In the annals of my memory, there will always be a collage of the peasant skirts, army surplus jackets, painted bodies, crazed minds, misplaced ideology, flaunting a rejection and ideology of the essence of love many embraced, yet alluded a lack of peace from within.
In touch with beauty
I stay in touch with beauty, to respond to the creation of beauty without being dominated by the drive to be beautiful. I want to channel my creative energy in a way that can be of use to the men and women of today.
My journey
Life’s journey has become beautiful and rewarding as I come to know myself. I create, design and write poetry to try and make sense of the patterns in my life… and accept the springs of healing that come every once in awhile as I travel through life. I have noticed it is through anguish I gain pearls of WISDOM… it is through love I maintain BEAUTY… it is through truth I live in PEACE. This understanding led me to create Saashy’s concept to enhance the diverse journey of women… who are SMART . BEAUTIFUL . NATURALLY I chose to travel gladly beyond my experiences to embrace life’s journey. After talking to many women around the world I incorporated their wishes along with mine to create SAASHY’S. I choose to climb the mountains of messages that were in my path whispering… you can’t look away from your emotional trappings and learn from life’s experiences. By silencing those voices I did look to gain WISDOM… not entirely looking at glamour and fashion to know BEAUTY… not seeking for PEACE entirely in my accomplishments… possessions.. social status… or friends. I looked beyond the obvious and embraced the abundance of life. My journey has been a joyous journey yet arduous. My newly embraced perception lead me to a path that took me beyond my limitations to discover the crystals of truth that lay there to be gathered and shared.
The well-known song: “I Left My Heart In San Francisco”, began to be recreated for me on October 31, 1986. Existence had been my plot in life until I embraced San Francisco. I took my first breath of life just 30 minutes south of San Francisco in Palo Alto. Of course I had maintained a semblance of life until then but the first time I breathed the breath of life was in a wonderful neighborhood grocery store in Palo Alto.
As I stood among the kiwi and sugar peas taking in the wonderful color and texture of the produce department, I came alive. For three weeks my evening meal was graced with those sweet succulent creations of nature, a reminder of the freshness and wonder of my new found life.
As I approached life in northern California I discovered my experiences from a distance at first. Instead of living in the city where I worked I chose to live in a home that bordered Stanford University. San Francisco was much too intimidating for me. It was there in Palo Alto I began to thrive.
The drive from Palo Alto to San Francisco along 280 was an enriching experience full of beauty… lush green hills… crystal blue pools of water, and fresh moist air that filled my lungs with the air of life. Upon my arrival in Palo Alto I met many delightful people. It wasn’t long before I belonged for the first time in my life. Somehow I never felt at home anywhere I lived. Among the hills just south of San Francisco I began to embrace life.
I began to discover my feminity in a bed & breakfast in a small room graced with a grand European antique armoire… a full length mirror that enchanted me. It was magical! I would be lost in front of that mirror for hours getting to know the child in me that had been buried for so many years. I clothed myself in beautiful dresses making myself up to please my eye then embarked on a magical journey to discover the prince. I was oh, soo beautiful. I knew he would come any moment… or moments. Moments turned into days… then years but I found that dresses… dancing… and tea were only the outer me. The inner princess was yet to be discovered. Then years. Was it the prince or was it me I was searching for? I was a princess in a castle for all the world to see I did not know it then… but other women reflected my real self to me… through the years I was to understand women would be invaluable to discover and understand the real me. Women were largely foreign to me. Most of my years had been spent with little boys I played with, bigger boys I competed against, boys I tried to love… friends… and business associates. I found there were so many different types of women. I began to experience a few during my short stay in Palo Alto.
Was it the niece of Ernest Hemmingway, or the eccentric angry woman who stole my mink coat in Los Altos Hills, or the businesswoman I met who cheated and charmed to close deals… or the woman who owned a bed & breakfast where I stayed when I first arrived in Palo Alto? She inadvertently taught me to properly fold towels. I somehow always knew the examples I learned so much from was found unexpectedly. To this day I continue the towel folding tradition. I know she isn’t aware of this yet she taught me just the same. The woman was angry at life and sought to make my stay at her lovely country bed & breakfast a miserable experience yet it was towel folding I remember most.
